Musical Foundation
Formal music lessons are a powerful way to help children reach their full intellectual, social, and creative potential. The early childhood Smart Start™ program is designed to provide the best start for children as young as newborns and up to 6 years old. By the age of 6, children will have a very strong musical foundation to be ready to begin studying an instrument and starting on the preparatory level theory.
Boost Cognitive Skills
Research shows that cognitive skills can be developed from a very early age, and that music is one of the very best ways to help develop these skills.
Children who learn these skills do better in every sphere of their lives, and research shows that starting early is associated with better cognitive skills.
Age-level learning
The Smart Start program is age-based by year to ensure that the curriculum is developmentally appropriate for the child’s stage of learning and cognitive development.
This approach recognizes the natural progression of musical abilities and ensures that the material is engaging and effective for each age group, fostering a solid foundation for musical growth.
Cultivate creativity
Each creative activity prompt is an opportunity for your child to embrace a new challenge. Through hands-on learning, your child is more likely to remain engaged and to build upon their creative problem-solving skills.
Inspire Curiosity
The Royal Conservatory’s Smart Start program inspires curiosity through it’s innovative and engaging approach to music education. Based on neuroscience research, the program’s interactive and collaborative activities along with it’s emphasis on critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity, foster a deep sense of curiosity in students by encouraging them to ask questions and explore new ideas.
